A successful 2011 winter concert has been held in St George's Takapuna as part of their Winter series. The concert was recorded and some tracks of DVD have been loaded to YouTube. Similarly, we have sung a successful lunchhour concert in the Auckland Public Library. Both were well attended. Details of these uploaded works are on our Repertoire page - above.
DVD Recording has been made of some newly transcribed 14th century Welsh chants relating to the Office of St David for a Medieval Studies International Conference in April at Auckland University. This has been uploaded to YouTube. Look for 'Ambrosia Auckland'
During the Christmas period 2010 Ambrosia sang a Mass for Advent III at St Albans which included the plainsong Gaudete, (Rejoice in the Lord alway) and Stainers How beautiful upon the mountains, and trad There's a Balm in Gilead. Very well received. This was followed by social time at a choir members home in Mt Albert, en route to sing a Carols and Lessons at Selwyn Village. On 21 December we again ran our very successful community carolling, aided by publicity that went " viral" beforehand.
MASS for Pentecost was a wonderful service in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. Byrd's Mass for Four Voices went well, along with his Ave Verum as Communion motet. Both these works had been written for the English Catholics at the time of Refornation in England, and were appreciated in the context of worship at St Albans. We look forward to another such time there. St Albans could well become a concert venue for us too.
